tui to puro French hoye gechhis re!
maane? zidane is god but my loyalties always lie with ze AZZURIS...and now they're in the final!!!!!!!!!!!!!
then why are you so happy that the brazilians have lost?
because everybody is always saying they're the best and blah blah ...they get all the attention everywhere..they're not the only nation that plays football you know...or even good football (as this wrld cup has prvd once again)...i've always supported italy and always will...i'm one of the very few who doesnt support a country bcoz it has won the maximum no. of times...as far as skills/footbal magic goes this world cup there was no1 better than zidane especially in that match against brazil...as long as i live i'll always be anti-brazil...and rejoice everytime the arrogant brazilian supporters are proved wrong
Do you know why people support Brazil? You have to see the joy with which the Brazilians play football. Football is a part of their life. They are playing it everywhere - on the beaches, on the streets, in the kitchens. it's an integral part of their life. Then there's their style of playing - it's fluent, it' stylish and it's a pleasure to watch. Zidane is the greatest player of his age. No doubt about that but as far as teams are concerned, the Brazilians football teams of all ages will always continue to remain the best.
Ditto: above. The one main reason for this WC being sooo drab is the ousting of Bra-Arg at the qfs.
@rapid-eye-movement: i'm assuming that u didnt see the italy-germany match..or the first 2 matches played by brazil either..or the netherlands-argentina match
@both: that is what is touted...bangalirao moidan-e kada mekhe/joma jole parar modhye chirokaal fotball khele eshechhe..that doesnt make their football ne better...it is just promotion...football emon ekta khela jetate passion plays a major part...so please cut the crap...if the fat ronaldo wheezing on the field is a more pleasing site than grosso's goal then something is wrong with ur perception
kemon, kono uttar nei toh? *jubilant chuckles*
I once watched this documentary where they showed these restaurant workers in Brazil playing football. They have to work till 2am finishing stuff off at work. Then they go play! Kids wake up extra early before school to get that crucial rematch to the one they lost last night. That's passion for the game. I suppose I do support Brazil for their success, their skills, their players and all that jazz. But there's one thing I've realized over the years - no country has more passion for the game then them. Btw. Hi! Nice blog.
as i said b4..football=passion..did you know by the way, that there's a direct relationship b/w poverty and football? detailed research over the years have shown that...the ability/tenacity to go on running non-stop fer 45 mins..need great reserves endurance...look at the great forwards of the world...from maradona to beckham..all have
humble beginnings
and the very fact that such a documentary has been made proves the point...u hav come to knw abt these things through this documentary right? how come nobody makes such documentaries about african/argentnian/european football? u would argue that the documentary was made because brazilians are passionate abt soccer...but i would rather have you believe that such documentaries are made to reinforce and sustain the hype created around brazillian football
Ah yes. The hype around Brazil. That does irritate me. Reinforced by Nike and their 'Joga Bonito' the hype went overboard. Even the Brazil team-management believed it. Too bad. It made them England-like. Yeeesh. And since you mentioned poverty and football, here's something from a Brit newspaper.
Before becoming a legend, Diego grew up in the shanty town of Villa Fiorito, where he shared one room with seven siblings. Sanitation facilities were somewhat crude and one night, when still a toddler, Maradona fell into the family cesspit after losing his way in the dark. Fortunately his Uncle Cirilo, screaming "Diegito, keep your head above the shit", was on hand to rescue the youngster
The 1999 European Footballer of the Year Rivaldo, for example, was so impoverished as a child that he lost his teeth to malnutrition and was dangerously thin and muscularly underdeveloped right into his teens. Then there's three-times Fifa World Player of the Year Ronaldo, whose first chance to escape the poverty-stricken streets of Rio disappeared when he couldn't raise the bus fare to attend a trial with Flamengo. Real Madrid team-mate Roberto Carlos was also reared far from the luxury he now basks in. According to John Carlin in this article, the free-shooting left-back developed his inordinately thick thighs by "working as a sort of human ox, spending hour after hour in the fields alongside his father pushing or pulling outrageously heavy pieces of farm machinery".
Oh, and I have watched documentaries on Argentina, USA, Senegal, Cameroon, etc etc etc. Ok, Senegal and Cameroon were clubbed together in one episode.
There was another one on Africa and how the talent is lost to Europe. Especially to France and Germany. Pretty insightful.
Er, according to the theory about Roberto Carlos, shouldn't India be producing those ox-thighs as well?
Go ask The Guardian. Their story.
@ushmi: look, no one allows immigrants thinking that thier sons/daughters will bring fame to their land. regarding zidane, his dad was a 'darwan'. there are thousands of algerians in france. you can't name five, can you? then, according to your theory, the sinister french conspiracy must have failed. look at england now. it is allowing immigrants from all over the world. most bangladeshis go there and end up doing menial work. why do you think england allows them to settle over there - to do menial work, to find their next cricket captain?
regarding france, their right-wing has always been racist. the right-wing leader jean-marie le pen said after the 98 WC final that the french shoudn't celebrate because there were too many black players in the team. he re-iterated it after france defeated spain this time round. he even said it when platini was playing in 1982. so racism has alwyas been there in france but it has been confined to the right wing (like india and bjp). france and england are extremely multi-cultural now and you can't accuse them of being the biggest racists. spain holds that honour(I don't know what word to use). black players are constantly abused in spain and this includes people like ronaldinho. now you might ask why do black people go to spain then? I don't know.
PS. My net connection was down from 7.7.06-12.7.06. Ergo, the late response.
as for your comment about passion, I didn't get you. Are you saying that the Africans/Argentines/Europeans are equally passionate about soccer? If so, then I am not sure but I think that no one equals the passion Brazil has for the game. it might or might not be reflected on the pitch for the 11 playing out there have been radically transformed. I mean, I wouldn't be the same if I could buy a car evry day. I might forget my priorities. That might happen to some Brazilian footballers but you can't blame the nation and its passion for football for it.
ufff! don't be ridiculous..i never said lokjonder citizenship dey karon tader chhelera boro hoye khelbe...i talked about footballers themselves...like trezeguet...makelele's father was a footballer from zaire who moved to france, for instance, when makalele was 4...malouda was born in french guiana...and the list goes on...bbc-r ekta programme-e shedin dekhachhilo response of the immigrants to world cup...most of the black and muslim ppl felt relieved because the team had a lot of immigrants...so all that bullshyte abt racial tensions being non-existent is, well, bullshit....kolkatateo toh onek african lokjon khelte ashe because things here are better than in their country..isn't it logical then that their sons might stay here and play football for these clubs too? and isn't that a kinda foot-drain (as opp to brain drain) depleting african talent? there's no way this trend will be reversed until something is done to reduce poverty...and as i was saying that dat day to you and momo (and u drowned me out with excessive golar jor) this is especially possible for france because of the large number of poor colonies that they've left behind...and i don't see why this has anything to do with italians being exclusively racistic and i also do NOT see how this makes france the haven/heaven of ppl of all colour and creed from the wrld
Bah!
@ az: huh?
if,but,must be,should be,blah blah blah. weird parallels. i guess reality's gone for a toss.
woteva
but i still get to have the last word
huh! *sticks up nose*
